Uganda Wildlife Authority Announces Free National Park Access for Open Park Day – 17th to 18th October 2024.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has unveiled an exciting opportunity for both Ugandan Residents and Foreign Residents to explore the country's breathtaking national parks at no cost during the Open Park Day, scheduled for 17th to 18th October 2024.

This two-day event is a golden chance for nature lovers, families, and adventure seekers to experience Uganda’s incredible wildlife and scenic beauty across several of its most iconic national parks, completely free of charge. The event will cover:

  • Kidepo Valley National Park – Known for its remote wilderness and untamed beauty, Kidepo offers stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife.
  • Lake Mburo National Park – Home to zebra herds, antelopes, and a host of bird species.
  • Murchison Falls National Park – Famous for the awe-inspiring Murchison Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge and also home of Giraffes.
  • Queen Elizabeth National Park – A gem known for its tree-climbing lions, crater lakes, and rich biodiversity.
  • Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve – One of Uganda’s largest and most spectacular game reserves and home of the Big 4 animals, and also the Ostriches.

What’s included in Open Park Day:

  1. Free Park Entrance:
    • Both Ugandan and Foreign Residents will enjoy free access to the mentioned national parks.
    • Vehicles will also be granted free entrance.
    • Children will enter free of charge when accompanied by their parents or guardians.
  1. Free Game Drives:
    • Tourist guides are mandatory for game drives, ensuring a safe and informative experience.
    • For convenience, UWA will provide buses stationed at park gates to offer free game drives at 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM on both days.
  1. Free Access to the Top of Murchison Falls:
    • In addition to the wildlife encounters, visitors to Murchison Falls National Park will enjoy complimentary access to the Top of the Falls, one of Uganda’s most famous natural wonders.

Exclusions:

While the Open Park Day offer is packed with free access, other services such as accommodation, specialized tours, meals, and activities not mentioned in the inclusions will be at the visitor's expense.
