Overview

An excursion to Ewaffe Cultural Village in Naggalama offers a deep dive into the rich culture and heritage of the Baganda, the largest Bantu ethnic group in Central Uganda. DAY 1

a) Departure from Kampala to Ewaffe Cultural Village (8:00 hours). b) Arrival at Ewaffe cultural village (9: 00 – 9:30 hours). c) Farm tour with Q & A sessions (9:30 – 11:30 hours). d) Indigenous Fruit feasts (11:00 – 11:30 hours). e) Community encounter (11:30 – 1:00 hours). f) Lunch (1:00 – 2:00 hours). g) Gender based sex education (2:00 – 3:00 hours). h) Traditional games (3:00 – 5:00 hours). i) Local brew tasting and departure (5:00 – 6:00 hours).

a) Departure from Kampala to Ewaffe Cultural Village. On this day early in the morning around 8:00 hours, you will meet at Uganda house in Kampala central city where you will meet the guide who will brief you about the trip itinerary and then after drives you to Ewaffe Cultural Village one of mostly visit cultural centers in Uganda where you will learning about the past and current history, culture and heritage of the Baganda – Buganda Kingdom. b) Arrival at Ewaffe cultural village. On arrival at Ewaffe Cultural Village in Naggalama, Mukono district at around 9:00 hours, you will be welcomed with a delightful Kiganda dances, Bakisimba, Nankasa by a cultural dancing troop. And then after, you will be briefed about the itinerary of the day. c) Farm tour with Q & A sessions. After the briefing, you will head for a farm tour with a Q and A session where you will learn about the diversity of the local species of plants, spices, herbs and their uses and the hidden traditional amazing stories about them. d) Indigenous Fruit feasts. After the farm tour, you then have an ultimate indigenous fruit feast where you will eat and taste each and every type of the local fruits like mangoes, passion fruits, guavas, pineapples, oranges, avocados and sugar canes, the jack fruits, water melons, and bananas among others which are locally grown and fresh harvested from the farms. e) Traditional experience. At around 11:30 hours after the local fruit feast, you will get engaged in vast of local activities like gender best roles plays, traditional local food preparation; matooke, and Luwombo which are locally prepared. And traditional local brew making from local fruits, bark cloth making, craft making skills, the fishing experience by using local traditional fishing means and tools and then sugarcane hunt that will leave you will amazing joy and fun. f) Lunch. After that long fun, you will then be served some lunch, the local prepared Luwombo served with local cuisines like matooke, yams, cassava and some local greens. And have some refreshments. g) Gender based sex education. Then later on after a warm delicious local lunch, you will then get engaged in the gender based sex education in the gardens (going to the bush ‘’Lusuku’’) which is facilitated by the ‘’Senga & Kojja’’’ meaning the (Anti and Uncle) that is meant to nature the boys and girls on how to manage marriage issues. And then the traditional sauna and massage session. h) Traditional games. After that long sex education in the bush, you then get engaged in some local / traditional games such as football/ soccer games, skipping, nobbling, board games like ludo & chess that will keep you busy and interaction while playing them. And also you will do tree planting which is a community project to have green and sustainable environment ever. i) Local brew tasting and Goat roasting. After the games session, you will taste the local brew which are traditional locally made drinks like the banana juice ‘’omubisi’’ waragi, and tonto, among others. Then later on you depart. Then after the community engagement and association, then you are transferred back to Kampala full of delightful life lasting memorable experience.
