FAQs about
Ultimate Uganda Birding & Wildlife Discovery.

What is the best time of year to do this birding & wildlife tour?

The tour is possible year-round, but peak birding often occurs in the green (wet) seasons when migratory and resident birds are more active. That said, the dry seasons (June–August, December–February) offer easier travel and wildlife visibility.

How physically demanding is the tour?

The tour includes nature walks, a canoe excursion in Mabamba Wetlands, game drives, and a few moderate hikes (e.g., to the Top of the Falls). However, there's also a full day of relaxation (Day 6) to rest or do lighter activities. You don’t need to be an expert hiker, but you should be reasonably mobile and prepared for early mornings.

What kind of guide will we have?

You will have a professional English-speaking safari guide experienced in birding and wildlife. Your guide will provide daily briefings, identify bird and animal species, help with photography, and handle logistics. You will have a professional English-speaking safari guide experienced in birding and wildlife. Which bird species can we expect to see?

Uganda is one of the richest birding destinations in Africa, with over 1,000 recorded species. You’ll likely see wetland species (like the Shoe-bill), forest birds, Savannah species, and many more endemic or Albertine Rift–specialist birds.

Is this tour suitable for beginner birdwatchers?

Yes. Whether you're a first-time birder or an experienced twitcher, this tour is designed to be accessible. Your guide will tailor birding walks to your level, explain identification, and help you spot sought-after species.

Use neutral-colored, lightweight, and breathable clothing (e.g., khaki, olive, beige) to blend into your surroundings. Bring binoculars, a camera with zoom, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, and a daypack. A waterproof jacket or poncho is useful in case of rain, especially for wet season travel.

Will I have opportunities for photography?

Absolutely. The tour is designed so that you can take plenty of bird and wildlife photographs: game drives, forest walks, and a boat safari provide excellent vantage points. Your guide can help with spotting and framing shots, and there are early mornings when light is ideal.

How do I book, and when should I confirm?

You can book via the Tio Tours website. On the tour page, select your dates and number of guests, then use the “Book” or “Enquiry” option (https://tiotours.travel/contact).
